My name is Alisa Matney and I’m currently the office manager at Shalom House. To give you an idea of how I had struggled with staying clean and sober before I came to Shalom House Ministries; I had been through 4 different secular treatment centers. I entered the Shalom program in September 2008, and I was in no mood to spend six months out at the Shalom House. But amazingly, within a few days, I knew this was where God wanted me to be. Christ’s love reached out through the staff and the residents, and surrounded me with a peace I had not experienced before. The classes and studies that Shalom offers have been put in place to help women look within and get to the root of why we get stuck in the destructive cycle and lies of addiction. Shalom offers a solution to be enable women to live a sober, productive life. With the help of the bible studies and Christ centered counseling that I received from the staff, I have learned to cling and depend on Christ to get me through each day and to be grateful for all that He has blessed me with.
I graduated on March 3, 2009. My husband, daughter, grandson and I moved To South Carolina from Florida, in 2007. We did not have any friends or contacts in South Carolina, but we have found a family at Shalom that has welcomed us all with loving open arms. I was blessed to be given the opportunity to start working in the office the week after I graduated from the program. My husband, Rick is also involved and teaches a study every other Thursday night. What a joy to be able to help women who are coming from a place of brokenness, sorrow and addiction. It’s the same place I was once living in. God has gracefully allowed me to have the wonderful gift of watching women come into the program, apply themselves and leave Shalom changed forever through the love poured out, and most importantly the love, grace and acceptance of our Savior, Jesus Christ!!
Wow And to think i watch u come in as a weed and then turn into a wonderful blooming flower. Proud of you, Love you
